Clay
My life has evolved alongside the computer. It has been a useful tool for countless tasks. While socially distancing I relied heavily on technology to communicate and pass time. It was easy to get caught up in the two-dimensional reality on the screen. Sculpting with physical materials is a peaceful escape from a reality consumed by technology.
This clay form consists of a screen on top of a plug-like base. The raw material anthropomorphizes the computer, it is fleshy and has yet to go through its maturing process of being fired. As the clay dries out this week it will change and may fall apart, showing our struggling relationship with computers during the unprecedented time of the pandemic.
